Chapter 482: Chapter 425: Courier
Upon recognizing the object, Daisy Zane exchanged a glance with Arthur North.
Arthur North said, āThe courier hasnāt gone far.ā
Daisy Zane immediately looked at Amelie Quentin: āAmelie, have the people from the Doomsday Hotel pursue the courier.ā
As they came here to attend the birthday banquet, they arrived on their own, without any attendants.
They can only rely on the staff at the Doomsday Hotel for assistance.
Amelie Quentin promptly responded, āOkay,ā without asking anything else.
Daisy Zane then looked at the lobby manager, āGet me a computer.ā
The lobby manager immediately brought a computer to Daisy Zane.
With the lobby manager watching, Daisy Zane hacked into the Doomsday Hotelās system.
The hotel lobby manager immediately broke into a cold sweat, wiping his forehead nervously.
Since the computer was given out by him, he wondered if he would be held accountable for this.
Even though Third Master Clark was on good terms with their young master, surely their relationship wasnāt this deep.
Daisy Zane hacked the surveillance system of the Doomsday Hotel, captured a clear image of the courierās face, and immediately sent it to Amelie Quentin.
Then she hacked all the nearby surveillance systems within range of the Doomsday Hotel.
She located the figure of the courier.
āRobinson Scott.ā
āPresent.ā Robinson Scott promptly replied.
āYouā¦ā As Daisy Zane turned her head and noticed Scott was wearing a skirt and high heels, she swallowed her words.
āHugo Clark and I will go.ā Arthur North spoke while calling Daisy Zaneās cell phone, āKeep the line open and guide us.ā
āOkay.ā
Arthur North and Hugo Clark left immediately.
āIām fine, Iāll go too.ā Robinson Scott said, stepping forward.
āCome back.ā Daisy Zane called her back, āLet them go.ā
Robinson Scott immediately turned back.
A substance like 319 certainly couldnāt be shipped via courier because it would be detected during security checks.
Therefore, there was only one possibility, the courier was an imposter.
Moreover, the package had been wrapped layer upon layer, likely to buy more time.
The courier left the Doomsday Hotel, crossed the main road, and went to Gourmet Street on the other side. The streets within the Gourmet Street were like a labyrinth, but the courier was still within the surveillance range.
Daisy Zane watched Arthur North and Hugo Clark on the surveillance feed. The two men were faster than the Lane familyās personnel. They could certainly catch the courier within three minutes.
But thenā¦the courier turned into another street and disappeared from the surveillance footage at the end of the road.
Both Robinson Scott and Lily Parker frowned at this, but remained quiet.
Daisy Zane immediately reported the spot where the courier disappeared to Arthur North.
Then she pulled up a map of Gourmet Street, quickly familiarizing herself with all the streets in the area.
She gave directions to Arthur North and Hugo Clark, āSplit up, enter from the ninth street, one from the east, one from the west, and surround the area.ā
Arthur North responded affirmatively.
When William Lane arrived, he saw Daisy Zane, Lily Parker, Robinson Scott, and the lobby manager huddled around a computer at the reception desk.
āWhat happened?ā William Lane asked.
Daisy Zane glanced at him without responding, but handed him the rewrapped substance 319 (ii).
William Lane quickly looked inside, then resealed the bag, and turned towards the lobby manager.
The lobby manager was sweating profusely. He didnāt know what was in the parcel, but he summarized the chain of events for William Lane.
When it came to Daisy Zane hacking the Doomsday Hotelās system, his voice quivered.
This situation couldnāt be fixed just by firing him; he could also be legally held accountable.
However, after hearing everything, William Lane remained unfazed and turned his attention to the computer.
The surveillance-free zone was not large. Daisy Zane started to browse the surveillance cameras around that area. If the courier emerged from that area, he must pass through those places.
However, due to the large crowd, and the evening darkness affecting visibility, it was impossible to identify faces. Identification would have to be made based on body shape and walking posture.
āArthur Northā¦..ā
āDidnāt find the person.ā Arthur North replied.
Daisy Zane heard the sound of the wind in her cell phone and Arthur Northās faint gasping, āWhere are the clothes? The courierās clothes.ā
There was no one dressed as a courier in the surveillance footage from any of the exits.
The courier walked into the unmonitored area in his uniform, likely removing and discarding it somewhere before exiting.
āNo sign of it,ā said Arthur North. āThis street has too many stores and too many people. He probably hid in one of them.ā
This content is taken from fŠ³eeš¤ebɳoveÉ.cĆøm.
Daisy Zaneās finger tapped on the computer: āLet the personnel from the Doomsday Hotel keep an eye out in the vicinity, you guys come back first. Without a search warrant, itās illegal to search through all these stores on our own.ā
Arthur North remained silent for a moment before responding, āOkay.ā
Right after him, William Lane immediately called to arrange undercover guards.
After the banquet ended, the group settled in the tea room on the upper floor of the Doomsday Hotel.
Both Arthur North and Hugo Clark had removed their suit jackets, dropped their ties, and unbuttoned one button from their shirts as they rolled up their sleeves.
Lily Parker brewed and poured tea for them.
Holding her teacup, Daisy Zane said, āThe other party doesnāt seem to have any malice, just like the man who handed out the note in Continent A last time.ā
āIf he means no harm, why doesnāt he show up?ā Allonzo Hobson, having finished with the banquet, had just arrived and was filled in, āThis hiding.ā
Daisy Zane, too, couldnāt make any sense of this neither.
āHave the surveillance footage from inside the stores been checked?ā Asked Hugo Clark.
Daisy Zane nodded, āMore than half of the stores on that street donāt have surveillance cameras. Weāve checked all that do, but thereās no useful information.ā
āIf he had the audacity to deliver here, heās prepared not to be found.ā William Lane said, āThe folks from the Doomsday Hotel will be on the lookout. Weāll just have to wait for news.ā
Daisy Zane nodded again.
Arthur North said, āIf the elixir delivered to us this time is real, that means thereās another batch of new elixir, and theyāre likely still experimenting.ā
Everyone suddenly fell silent, and after a while, Allonzo Hobson cursed.
āNeither domestically nor in any other continent, 319 (ii) has been detected at present.ā Daisy Zane said, āSoā¦ it should not have been used in experiments yet.ā
āReport it, and continue to strengthen defenses.ā Arthur North commanded, āWeāll intensify our own territory, and report the rest to higher-ups.ā
Both Hugo Clark, and Allonzo Hobson agreed.
Daisy Zane stared down at the color of the tea in her cup, not saying a word.
Arthur North reached out and squeezed the back of her neck, then said, āAlright, letās all head back, itās getting late.ā
āOh, right.ā William Lane suddenly said, āThe hacker who tampered with the equipment in the Black Banquet Hall has been caught.ā
Allonzo Hobson: āThat fast?ā
āMy father did it himself.ā William Lane put a cell phone sealed in a bag on the tea table.
Daisy Zane looked at William Lane.
Allonzo Hobson was surprised, āUncle Lane actually took action himself. Wow, I actually witnessed Uncle Lane in action.ā
William Lane laughed a little and then said, āAccording to that hacker, he found the cell phone that had been in contact with him.ā
Arthur North glanced at the cell phone, guessing what William Lane might say next.
āBut I only found this cell phone.ā William Lane said, āItās a new phone, with a black card. Apart from posting on Facebook, the phone had contact with the staff at the Spotlight and the hacker, but thereās no other content. No location information was found either. It had probably been switched off until today.ā
Olivia Lane blinked her eyes, āSo cautious?ā
Daisy Zane asked, āWhere was the cell phone found?ā
āIn a trash can across the street from Doomsday Hotel.ā
Allonzo Hobson: āā¦ Are there cameras that caught the trash can?ā
āThere are, butā¦ the people throwing out the trash are strangers.ā William Lane said, āNo one was seen throwing out a cellphone.ā
Daisy Zane took out her cell phone and dialed Felix Bakerās number. The cell phone in the seal bag on the tea table rang almost immediately.
After one ring, Daisy Zane hung up.
Confirmed that this was the cell phone that had contacted the staff at Spotlight.
Daisy Zane said in a low voice: āJust throwing away trash, mixed in with other garbage. It could be thrown away by sanitation workers, or anyone willing to help.ā
āIndeed.ā
āCould it be Amelia Miles?ā Olivia Lane suddenly suggested.
Daisy Zane looked at her and said, āMy girl, without evidence, donāt suspect people.ā
Olivia Lane pursed her lips, āok.ā
Seeing how obedient she was, Daisy Zane smiled and then, āNo matter who it is, theyāll slip up eventually.ā
